Excess mortality linked to Covid-19 in Belgium: spatial and socio-demographic variations [Bourguignon et al.]

In a working document of the UCLouvain Center for Demographic Research, Bourguignon et al. analysed the spatial and socio-demographic variations in excess mortality observed during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Deaths between 1 January 2020 and 1 August 2020 have been compared to those observed during the reference period 2016-2019. The analyses revealed important variations by age, sex, and region of residence.
