Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in radiation oncology departments [Vaandering et al. 2021]

In a study published in Frontiers in Oncology, Aude Vaandering and colleagues present the results of a weekly national survey among 26 radiation oncology departments in Belgium. The study sheds light on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis in the management of the departments between March and June 2020. The number of curative and palliative treatments declined until the end of April 2020, after which palliative treatments showed a sharp increase. The study further shows important variations in treatment activity per pathology over time.
