COVID-19 Vaccine Impact on Hospitalisation risk in Belgium [Erazo et al. 2022]

‘Viruses’ presents the research of Erazo and colleagues on the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on COVID-19 hospitalisation. The national COVID-19 surveillance data was used to analyse aggregated information on 27,608 COVID-19 patients hospitalised between October 2021 and February 2022, stratified by age category and vaccination status. The findings confirm that the COVID-19 vaccines provides protection against COVID-19 hospitalisation in all age groups. The article further discusses interesting differences over time due to potential waning effects of the vaccine and the influence of the Omicron variant.
